ABOUT

Theatre in the Rough’s mission is to connect art and nature more closely, especially in an age of deepening environmental crisis. Our vision is to create a corpus of ecological arts fit for the Anthropocene epoch, thereby reflecting a profound awareness of human impacts on the Earth.

We work with young and emerging creatives aged 25 and under.

Since 2009, we have produced over 100 plays, films, audio dramas, documentaries and podcasts by almost 100 young creatives from across the Liverpool City Region and West Lancashire.

Theatre in the Rough has worked on projects with a wide range of institutions, including National Museums Liverpool, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, Tate Liverpool, Sefton MBC, Knowsley MBC, Unity Theatre Liverpool, Edge Hill University, and Ainsdale National Nature Reserve.

The Theatre in the Rough Festival is a Registered Charity, No. 1133246.
