In this anthology, young writers from across the UK have collaborated with elements of nature to co–author poems that seek to fuse human and non–human perspectives.

Whether penned with rustling leaves, birdsong, rainfall, or the moon, these works invite you to share in the collective voice of the entire planet . . . and beyond.

You can also discover an extended range of poems by even more writers from the Wild Words project below.

WILD WORDS

National Eco-Poetry Project  |  December 2023

‘Imagine Co-Writing a Poem with a Tree, River, or Even the Weather…’

Wild Words was a cross-species poetry project that invited young people from across the UK to collaborate with the non-human world.

Hundreds of young participants connected with their local environments to craft brilliant, thoughtful, and inventive poems.

Shared across our social media channels, these poems collectively stand as a dual celebration—a tribute to artistic talent and an homage to the plants, animals, habitats, and weather that ignited imaginative connections for all involved.
